So, time has gotten away from me and I have not, like a good mommy, written down all the hilarious and smart things my child has been saying lately, but here are a few. If I can bug her father enough, you may even get some new photos soon.
Tonight while reading an incredibly annoying book about Dora telling time (I mean, thanks, love ya, Jami), it started raining and thundering. Keira became quiet and slightly withdrawn and we asked what was wrong. She whispered softly, "The thunder is hurting my feelings."
At a restaurant, now a few months back, mommy got a little eavesdroppy on some old-timers at the table on the other side of the half-wall. KJ noticed my attention was divided and she gently took my face in her hands and turned it to her, "Don't stare at people, Mommy." Touche.
I also got a "Mom! You're in my FACE!" recently, as well.
One day she had a piece of food stuck in her teeth, mango or something, and she frantically asked me to help her get it out. "Do you want mommy to try to get it with some floss?" "Yes," she cried. I went to our bathroom to retrieve some floss, brought it to her and she started wailing. She ran into the kitchen, opened the drawer and grabbed a toothpick and said, "No, this floss! Like daddy!"
She is starting to ask some hard questions, too. Theological and such. And she's correctly using words like "usually," "actually," and while "reading" to herself out of her toddler picture Bible, she narrated, "Then suddenly..."
Sometimes when daddy has the TV on, he has been asked by a little blonde headed rascal, "Is that kid-appropriate?" Pretty sure she has heard that one from Maggie, her babysitter, talking with the older fellas.
Speaking of older fella... She has her eye on a buddy from Maggie's before/after school care, Jacob. She always wants to show him things, asks if he will be there for the day, hugs him, pretends to play with him at our house with her toys... Well, he got a haircut last week or so, and there were comments about how he looked. From my almost 3 year old (but she'll correct you and tell you she's only 2), "Yeah, Jacob is so handsome."
She is in quite the little helper phase, which is cute and nice and I know it won't last forever. Stirring, cleaning, laundry, washing dishes, you name it. She wants in on the action.
Okay, well I am slightly caught up. Hope it wasn't too long. Pictures to come.
